for this month's Currently.
My daughter has been such a help this holiday season!
She did most of the decorating herself, and has now taken most of it down
and packed it away herself. I appreciate her SOOOOO much!
I am loving this time after Christmas and New Year's
to get some things done I wanted to do,
catch up with friends, watch movies, sleep in,
and in general, decompress from the busy-ness of all things school related.
The table thing just wasn't working for me in my classroom,
so I have had them replace with the old desks that I hate too,
but they are more convenient because I can move things around more easily
and no longer have any "blind spots."
So now I just have to get things re-organized before next Monday.
I have a student teacher starting on Monday and have to get things ready for her to jump right in.
Need to find my mojo so I can get things done!
I am also linking up with Lisa at Growing Firsties for her Shout Out Linky.

ReplyDeleteHi I came across your blog through Farley's rule of 3! Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday and how nice of your daughter to help you clean up everything. I am very jealous that you have this week off too! We went back today and I could have used a couple more days to get organized. Thanks for sharing the other great blogs you've found!

Hi! I found you via the Currently linky. I teach junior high, but I have a similar dilemma when it comes to room organization. I'm in my 1st year at new school (7th year overall), and have had trouble finding the right arrangement. When I first came the room had only these huge, heavy, UGLY tables - which was absolutely terrible, because no matter how I arranged things close to a third of the class always had their backs to me. Ugh! Shoved into a storage room, I found over twenty sewing desks (I'm a home ec teacher - the sewing desks have a hinged top that opens up and the machines lift up). I had the horrendous tables taken away, and put out the sewing desks as student desks. Genius! But not perfect. The kids can mess with the machines underneath the desks, and the desks themselves have wheels that don't lock well. Over break my husband and I removed the machines and drilled the tops down, but the wheels can still be an issue. They're great for pushing the desks together for pairs/groups work, but a pain to straighten up at the end of every hour, seven times a day. Wow, this was a lengthy comment about desks - sorry! Have a great 2013!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Courtney and Denise! Happy New Year with many Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes, Lorraine, I remember way back then! Love you too! Have a great new year!
I am so glad I found your post! I am your newest follower and look forward to reading your future posts!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have been thinking about rearranging my classroom when we go back on the 7th. There are just so many choices, decisions, and "good" arrangements for my class that it is always hard to decide.
Andrea
Welcome Andrea! Glad you stopped by!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at reorganizing the desks in my room, too. I had a great idea to let the kids design the layout of the room (with some parameters). I may draw a template and let them figure out our new design!
ReplyDeleteWhat i have learned
Jessica that is a great idea!

Glad you got to spend time with your daughter!! Best of luck with the new student teacher!! What an exciting spring semester!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Carinna, AMC, and Meg! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI rearrange my classroom all the time. There just doesn't seem to ever be that perfect combination. What is that about anyway? Am I just that hard to please? UGH!
ReplyDeleteMy surprise helper for undecorating this year was my husband. I had mentioned that we should take things down either Monday or Tuesday then I headed out to get groceries. When I got home, the tree was already down and everything was put back in storage. I could hardly believe it! Isn't it great to have help?!
It's been forever since I had a student teacher. Hope you get a good one.
